The AIA Materials Pledge recently wrapped up its third year of reporting. The pledge, first introduced in 2019, is a commitment for firms to holistically evaluate materials and shift their material selection and specification practices towards healthier and more sustainable choices. This presentation will introduce the Materials Pledge, the Common Materials Framework, and how two firms are putting the pledge into practice. Moving from the "what" to the "how," this session will provide the background to better understand the pledge, the tools available to support your pledge efforts, and potential roadmaps for you to get started or move to the next step in your pledge journey. Whether you are pledge-curious or have already dipped your toe into the reporting pond, there is something to be learned here.
Speaker:
Ellen Mitchell, AIA | Director of Sustainability and Applied Research, LPA
Jill Pedro, AIA | Material Impact Manager, LPA
Jennifer Wehling, AIA | Director of Sustainability at HMC Architects, HMC
