Arkin Tilt Architects share the story of how the Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center and Public Access project evolved from concept through construction to become a hub for learning and community in a largely unknown and underserved yet ecologically significant corner of California.
The Nature Center’s strawbale walls were stacked and plastered utilizing volunteers from the Feather River Land Trusts community of supporters; learn how this and other low embodied carbon features were integrated into the specifications and bid documents, and ultimately executed at a savings.
All three entrances to the Preserve were developed with accessible trails and features, in harmony with the sensitive landscape and rugged climate.
Speaker:
David Arkin, AIA, LEED AP | Architect, Arkin Tilt Architects
