As part of Architecture Week 2026, AIA San Fernando Valley will host students from John F. Kennedy High School at Woodbury University to advance equity, early exposure, and pathways into the architecture profession. This volunteer orientation will introduce the California Architecture Foundation's Architecture by the Book curriculum, featuring architect Rafael Viñoly, and provide guidance on facilitating activities and engaging students throughout the program.

For many students, visiting a university campus and interacting with architecture professionals provides critical exposure to higher education and future career opportunities. In partnership with Woodbury University and the California Architecture Foundation, this initiative connects students with academic and professional pathways while advancing Architecture Week's mission of public engagement, design advocacy, and inspiring the next generation of architects.

Due to the recent LAUSD schedule changes and strike-related disruptions, this program has been rescheduled to mid-September 2026. To help ensure a successful experience for students and volunteers alike, we are hosting a virtual pre-planning session led by Kim Anderson and the California Architecture Foundation.
