In a profession built on ideas, communication, and relationships, a professional brand is more than a resume or portfolio. It is the ongoing impression created through your work, values, voice, interests, and interactions over time
This virtual meet-up is designed to help architecture students and emerging professionals think more intentionally about how they present themselves—on paper, online, and in person. Through the perspectives of a firm leader, an AEC marketing expert, and an architect who has built a nationally recognized professional platform, attendees will explore what makes candidates memorable, what firms notice beyond technical skills, how authenticity builds credibility, and how portfolios, LinkedIn profiles, websites, social media, and everyday interactions all contribute to a professional identity.
While strong design skills, creativity, and hard work remain fundamental to success, professional growth also depends on a person's ability to communicate their ideas, build relationships, and help others understand the value they bring. Many talented individuals struggle not because of a lack of ability, but because their strengths, interests, and aspirations are not always visible to those making hiring, promotion, or leadership decisions. This session will explore how emerging professionals can thoughtfully share their work and perspective in ways that are authentic, professional, and grounded in substance rather than self-promotion.
The session will also touch on current communication and branding trends within the AEC industry, the difference between visibility and influence, and how a clear professional identity can create opportunities for meaningful connection and career growth.
Attendees will leave with practical ideas for communicating their strengths, interests, and goals with greater clarity and confidence, along with a stronger understanding of how to build a professional brand that feels genuine, thoughtful, and aligned with the kind of career and professional impact they hope to create.
