The building industry is at a pivotal moment.

Technology is transforming how projects are conceived and delivered. Artificial intelligence and digital tools are reshaping design and construction. New project delivery models are changing relationships among project teams. Climate resilience, housing affordability, workforce shortages, regulatory complexity, and increasing client expectations are redefining success. At the same time, economic pressures demand greater efficiency, stronger collaboration, and measurable value from every participant in the process.

While construction is one of the world's largest industries, our success depends on a remarkably interconnected ecosystem. Architects, engineers, contractors, owners, manufacturers, developers, educators, and public officials all rely on one another. As that ecosystem evolves, this is an opportunity to redefine not only the unique value each profession brings, but also how we work together to deliver better outcomes.

This moment calls for more than adaptation; it calls for a shared vision.

AIA California is convening the ROAC Summit (Regulators, Owners, Architects and Contractors)—an invitation-only series of working sessions that will bring together a carefully selected group of industry leaders to explore the future of collaboration across the design and construction community.

Together, we will:

• Reimagine how our professions create value for clients and communities.
• Challenge long-held assumptions and reset expectations for how we collaborate.
• Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes, strengthen relationships, and increase value across the entire project lifecycle.
• Develop a practical roadmap for a more innovative, productive, profitable, and rewarding future for everyone involved in shaping the built environment.

This is not a conference. It is a collaborative design session for the future of our industry.

Our discussions will begin in one of California's most inspiring settings: two remarkable spaces designed by Julia Morgan, whose work continues to demonstrate the enduring impact of thoughtful design and visionary leadership.

The ROAC Summit will convene over three sessions,

• August 14 from 1:00–5:00pm, followed by a hosted reception in Sacramento
• October 22 from 1:00 – 5:00pm, with a seaside reception at Asilomar Conference Grounds (in conjunction with the Monterey Design Conference, Pacific Grove, CA)
• December 17 from 4:00-5:30pm, we’ll wrap the year with a virtual meeting

To foster candid dialogue and meaningful collaboration, participation is intentionally limited. The invitation list has been thoughtfully curated to bring together diverse perspectives and experienced voices capable of influencing the future of our industry.
